Master's Degree in Integrative Health
Offered by the School of Health and Human Services.
This Master of Integrative Health program features curriculum which advances the transformation and delivery of healthcare. The School of Health and Human Services at National University has developed an accredited master’s degree program in consultation with renowned experts in the field. The program incorporates the most effective approaches to the teaching and practice of integrative health, and is designed to provide the student with intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills in integrative and holistic healthcare theory, clinical practice, and standard of care.
This degree consists of 12 courses, for a total of 54 graduate credit units. Students are admitted into cohort learning teams and complete all degree requirements in the following sequence:
Integrative Healthcare
Examines the foundations of holistic-integrative medicine and its evolution in conventional healthcare and provides an orientation to holistic-integrative medicine centers of excellence and standard of care.
Global Healing Traditions
Explores the cultural and geographic origins of global healing traditions and their relevance to modern integrative healthcare. Common themes covered in the course include: herbal medicine, connections with natural forces, and mind-body wellness.
Biostatistics and Research
Provides an introduction to the use of statistical analysis in healthcare management and an understanding of the basic methods and underlying concepts of statistics and research used in management decision-making.
Mind-Body Therapy for Healing
Focuses on intervention strategies based on interactions among the brain, mind, body, and behavior that promote health, including: relaxation, hypnosis, imagery, meditation, yoga, biofeedback, tai chi, qi gong, and autogenic training.
Biofield and Energy Therapy
Provides the theoretical foundations, principles of clinical practice, and standard of care for biofield and energy based therapies.
Bio-Energetic Therapy
Examines the theory and practice of bio-energetic therapies designed for patients with musculoskeletal dysfunction or acute and chronic pain of musculoskeletal origin.
Exercise, Nutrition, and Health
Examines the theoretical foundations, principles of clinical practice and standard of care for exercise prescription and nutritional counseling in health and medicine.
Spirituality, Health, and Healing
Explores the theoretical foundations, principles of clinical practice and standard of care for spiritual-based healing therapies within the context of integrative health practice.
Healing Journeys for Health
Provides students with the opportunity to design an individual integrative healthcare plan (journey) for healing and health outcomes based on the integrative health therapies presented in prior courses.
Integrative Health Management
This courses is a comprehensive overview of the essential concepts and skills required to manage an integrative health practice.
Integrative Health Practicum
The practicum experience is a minimum of 120 hours of structured work experience in an integrative health/medicine clinic under the direct supervision of licensed healthcare providers.
Integrative Health Capstone
This two-month capstone project focuses on a relevant problem in integrative health or medicine theory or practice.
