Patient demand for professionals who can advise them about health and wellness issues and refer them to appropriate providers and sources of information has grown considerably. However, the relationship between traditional healthcare and complementary and alternative approaches can be confusing. As a result, there is often a gap between patients' demand for such help and the availability of professionals to assist. The Center for Integrative Health proposes to narrow this gap.
In conjunction with National University, the Center will develop a graduate program in health Advocacy with the goal of preparing professionals to work with patients and providers to help them better understand complementary and alternative approaches to treatment and recovery and ultimately to help patients receive the best possible care.
